چکیده

Irisin, a newly discovered myokine that reduces obesity and improve insulin resistance via the browning of white adipose tissues. Irisin is expressed and secreted in response to exercise, providing a hormonal link between exercise and improved insulin sensitivity. Several studies reported low irisin level in diabetic patient as compared to control. Therefore,it has been assumed that irisin may be used as an injectable remedy for diseases, relating to metabolism and various other health disorders in which physical exercise leads to improvements, for example, obesity and type II DM. This review focuses on the therapeutic possibility of irisin in patients with obesity and type II DM.

معرفی هورمون ورزش (Irisin)

Introduction: Almost 15% of world populations suffer from obesity. Obesity and insulin resistance are the key pathogenesis risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease. Exercise training can accelerate metabolism and help to prevent the obesity and diabetes through induction of Irisin and triggers conversion of white adipose tissue to brown adipose tissue. Metho...

Browning of white fat: does irisin play a role in humans?

The discovery of irisin as an exercise-regulated myokine inducing browning of WAT has gained interest as a potential new strategy to combat obesity and its associated disorders, such as type 2 diabetes. However, there are inconsistencies regarding the relevance of irisin in humans. The regulation of FNDC5 mRNA expression by exercise and contraction could not be reproduced by a number of human s...

The Role of Irisin in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A Review

Irisin is a newly described myokine that improves insulin resistance via the browning of white adipose tissue. Irisin appears to be secreted in response to exercise, providing a hormonal link between exercise and improved insulin sensitivity. Irisin expression has been demonstrated to increase after acute exercise and cold exposure in animal and human studies. Circulating irisin is decreased in...

Plasma irisin is elevated in type 2 diabetes and is associated with increased E-selectin levels

BACKGROUND Irisin is a hormone released mainly from skeletal muscle after exercise which increases adipose tissue energy expenditure. Adipocytes can also release irisin after exercise, acting as a local adipokine to induce white adipose tissue to take on a brown adipose tissue-like phenotype, suggesting that irisin and its receptor may represent a novel molecular target for the treatment of obe...

The Relationship between Serum Levels of Irisin with Cardiometabolic Biomarkers in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Background: Diabetes and obesity are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Irisin is a newly recognized peptidic myokine with anti-obesity and anti-diabetic properties. This study aims to investigate the relationship between serum irisin levels with cardiometabolic biomarkers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: In this comparative cross- sectional s...
